Sentinel’s real-time compare reports let you easily update your environments to take advantage of the new features and visual changes in PeopleTools 8.60. The latest release includes several changes that help simplify navigation and provide easier access to important features.
Let’s take a look at five visual changes in PeopleTools 8.60 that are sure to catch your eye.
1. Redwood Color Scheme
The first thing you’ll notice about PeopleTools 8.60 is the Redwood theme. Redwood is Oracle’s Next-Generation Design System that provides a standard, unified look across all product offerings. In this update, the Redwood color scheme can be seen throughout the system, including on the header, icons, page tabs, grid tabs, checkboxes, slider buttons, and many other UI elements. Customizing the Redwood theme is supported by working with CSS variables.
2. Banner Layout
The banner layout has also been updated in PeopleTools 8.60, making it easier to access common controls. The redesign includes a global section at the top and a contextual section below. The global section contains the back arrow, quick access bar items, global search, home and notification buttons, the Actions Menu, and the Navbar. The contextual section displays the title of the content and its contextual actions in a separate Actions Menu. In addition, the new banner layout includes a refresh of the icons.
*The visual changes in PeopleTools 8.60 for the Actions Menu do not apply to small form factor devices.
3. Quick Access Bar
Another valuable feature in PeopleTools 8.60 is the Quick Access Bar, which provides one-click access to your Favorites and Recently Visited items. This feature is now available by default on all fluid homepages, dashboards, and transaction pages. When selected, users can quickly access the items on a pop-up side panel without leaving the current page.
4. Global Search
In PeopleTools 8.60, Global Search is available on all PeopleSoft pages. It is visible in an expanded form on homepages, allowing users to select a category to perform an advanced search. Global Search is shown in a muted form on dashboards and transaction pages; however, selecting the feature will activate its expanded properties.
5. Configurable Search
In addition to Global Search, the new update introduces Configurable Search – a unified solution for classic and fluid component search. Administrators can configure search properties for components and customize a search page to suit their business needs. By using the new Configurable Search page, admins can also reduce dependency on Application Designer.
